Getting Started with Google NotebookLM

 What is Google NotebookLM?

Google NotebookLM is a note-taking app designed to help users organize their thoughts, ideas, and research in a simple and intuitive way. With NotebookLM, you can create notes, organize them into notebooks, and collaborate with others in real-time.
Setting Up Google NotebookLM

  1. To get started with NotebookLM, go to the Google NotebookLM website and sign in with your Google account.
  2. If you don't have a Google account, create one by following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Once signed in, you'll see the NotebookLM dashboard, where you can access your notes, notebooks, and settings.

Creating Notes

Creating a New Note

  1. To create a new note, click the "New note" button on the dashboard or use the "+" icon in the sidebar.
  2. Type your note title and content in the designated fields.
  3. You can format your text using the toolbar, which includes options for bold, italic, and strikethrough text, as well as bullet points and numbered lists.
    Adding Images and Files
  4. To add an image to a note, click the "Add image" button and select the image file from your computer.
  5. You can also drag and drop images into the note.
  6. To add other files, such as PDFs or documents, click the "Add file" button and select the file from your computer.

Organizing Notes

Creating Notebooks

  1. To create a new notebook, click the "New notebook" button on the dashboard or use the "+" icon in the sidebar.
  2. Type your notebook title and description in the designated fields.
  3. You can add notes to a notebook by dragging and dropping them into the notebook or by using the "Add to notebook" button.
    Using Tags and Filters
  4. To add tags to a note, click the "Add tag" button and type your tag keywords.
  5. You can use tags to categorize and filter your notes.
  6. To filter notes by tag, click the tag name in the sidebar or use the search bar to find specific tags.

Analyzing PDFs and URLs

  1. NotebookLM allows you to analyze PDFs and URLs, extracting relevant information and insights.
  2. To analyze a PDF, upload it to NotebookLM and use the "Analyze" feature.
  3. To analyze a URL, enter the URL in the designated field and use the "Analyze" feature.

  5. To analyze a YouTube video, enter the video URL in the designated field and use the "Analyze" feature.

  10. To create a podcast, use the "Create podcast" feature and follow the on-screen instructions.

Collaboration

Sharing Notes and Notebooks

  1. To share a note or notebook, click the "Share" button and enter the email addresses of the people you want to share with.
  2. You can choose to share with specific permissions, such as "Editor" or "Viewer".
  3. Shared notes and notebooks can be accessed by collaborators in real-time.

  4. To collaborate on a note in real-time, share the note with others and click the "Collaborate" button.
  5. You can see the changes made by collaborators in real-time.
  6. Use the "Version history" feature to track changes and revert to previous versions if needed.

  1. Download the Google NotebookLM mobile app to access your notes and notebooks on-the-go.
